You look good tonight
Nobody else in this place can match you
You've been on my mind
You look good tonight
It's hard for me to voice my thoughts
But I'm ready to say what I want
But you look like there's something weighing heavy on your mind
So I'll just keep it in so you can take your time
3 words
You first
3 words
Because 3 words could change everything
You look good tonight
Reminds me how you first got my attention
Put together so right
Mmm, you look good tonight
I'm nervous but I need to say
That some things have changed for me
But you look so excited that I kinda wanna wait
The look that's in your eyes makes me hate to say
3 words
You first
3 words
Because 3 words could change everything

Going Dark
03:41

This small dark room is your escape
No light, no reflection
You can't see your face
Slide down the wall and rest on the floor
Your head is out to sea
And in your hand you clutch the shore
The pressure rises like a tide inside, you can taste it
It stretches out your skin so tight and wide, you can't take it
A nick or two tonight to satisfy, then you'll make it
Out
Alive
You cutter
And it all bleeds out
You cutter
Then it all drains
Out
Just like before you set your mind that this time will be the last
Pull yourself from the floor to hide and disguise your latest crash
There is no pain any more and you’re fine, it’s all fine now that it’s passed
This is how
You survive
You cutter
And it all bleeds out
You cutter
Then it all drains
Out

Sitting in my brother’s car
Coughing on the clouds he blows from his mouth
Watching family drink and laugh through the windows
Of our mother’s house
His first Christmas with us in years
He was spreading gifts like a modern Nino Brown
But I could see that the life that took him away
Was still a part of him even now
And I said “Why don't you change your life?
Mom raised us all to do what’s right."
He said “It’s not enough for a boy around here"
He said “One thing to understand, my nigga
The streets taught me how to be a man, my nigga.
I don’t need nobody judging me
I hold it down, and I’m gonna be
Alright"
He sounded so excited and full of hope as we spoke
Of his unborn child
He said “I’m gonna be the daddy to her that I never had in mine"
I said what happens to her if you wind up in jail again
Or God forbid, worse?
He said whatever happened, he’d make sure he made plans to take care of her
I said “That’s fucked up! It’s not right!
You won’t wanna miss a moment of her life
I don’t understand why it has to be like this!
He said “One thing to understand, my nigga
The streets taught me how to be a man, my nigga.
I don’t need nobody judging me
I hold it down, and I’m gonna be
Alright"
It's gonna be alright

Relentless

You wake me from my sleep
Clamoring in my ear again
My heart racing, eyes adjust to the dark
All I want is a little peace
Just a bit of time to myself
I wish I knew how to turn you off
Sometimes you're relentless
So damn relentless
I knew you would be trouble from the start
I just didn't think that you'd take it this far
And I notice that you only call
When you're broken
Feels like my free time is being robbed
Blowing up my phone and I wish you'd stop
And it wouldn't even be so hard
But you're always broken
You drag me out at night
Interrupt all of my plans
I'm afraid to do anything at all
As soon as I'm hanging at home
Or spending time with my friends
I know my phone will light up with your call
Cuz you're relentless
So damn relentless
I knew you would be trouble from the start
I just didn't think that you'd take it this far
And I notice that you only call
When you're broken
Feels like my free time is being robbed
Blowing up my phone and I wish you'd stop
And it wouldn't even be so hard
But you're always broken

Watch the World Burn
03:46
|

Saw a story on the news
Broke the precious calm
A child's death, kindling to a problem waiting for a spark
No chance to recover
No chance to breathe
Before the dead grow like poisonous leaves
Oh God I'm scared
How do we remain here?
When people exist
That only want to watch this world burn
Another day
Another trend
Another rally
Another vigil
How may candles can we burn to cleanse ourselves?
We pray for somewhere
We pray for something
Another trending grief
But there always seems to be darkness overhead
I can't see
How to change anything
Sometimes I think
That we should let the world just...

And Then There Was One Boston, Massachusetts
And Then There Was One is Stevie Caldwell’s solo project, an outlet for a very personal, atmospheric and powerful sound which finds its niche somewhere between genres: it’s rock at its core, flowing from mid-tempo melodic grooves into crunchy angst-ridden alt rock, which she describes as much like her personality. ... more
